حَسْبُنَا اللّٰهُ وَنِعْمَ الْوَكِيلُ
Ḥasbunā llāhu wa-niʿma l-wakīl.
Allah is sufficient for us. What an excellent Guardian He is.

Narrated by Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him). (Sahih al-Bukhari, Tafsir 64/4563; Al Imran 173)
Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) relates: "Ibrahim (peace be upon him) said the words 'Hasbunallahu wa ni'ma'l-wakil' when he was cast into the fire. Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) also said them when it was said, 'People have gathered an army against you, so fear them.' These words increased their faith, and they said, 'Hasbunallahu wa ni'ma'l-wakil'" (Sahih al-Bukhari, Tafsir 64/4563).
In the Noble Qur'an this dhikr appears as follows: "They are those to whom, when people said, 'Your enemies have gathered an army against you, so fear them,' this only increased them in faith, and they said, 'Allah is sufficient for us, and what an excellent Guardian He is'" (Al Imran 173).
This dhikr is the strongest expression of trust in Allah. Ibrahim said it as he was being cast into the fire — and the fire became a rose garden. The Prophet said it against the enemy armies — and victory came. The remedy for every difficulty is submission to Allah.
Allah is sufficient for me. What an excellent Guardian He is. In every hardship, in every strait, at every dead end, I place my trust in You alone. Grant me to rely on You and not on people. When the doors close, teach me to run to Your door. Do not leave me in need of anyone besides You, O my Lord. Amin.
