أَسْتَغْفِرُ اللّٰهَ الْعَظِيمَ الَّذِي لَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْحَيَّ الْقَيُّومَ وَأَتُوبُ إِلَيْهِ
Astaghfiru llāha l-ʿAẓīma lladhī lā ilāha illā huwa l-Ḥayya l-Qayyūma wa-atūbu ilayh.
I ask forgiveness of Allah Most High, besides whom there is no god, the Ever-Living, the Self-Subsisting, and I turn to Him in repentance.

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would ask forgiveness abundantly. (Sahih Muslim, Dhikr 41/2702; Sunan Abi Dawud, Witr 26/1517; Jami' at-Tirmidhi, Da'awat 38/3397)
"Astaghfirullah al-Azim — I ask forgiveness of Allah, whose majesty is most exalted." Repentance and seeking forgiveness are the plea and the request for pardon made to Allah by those who regret their sins.
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "By Allah, I ask Allah for forgiveness and repent to Him more than seventy times a day" (Sahih al-Bukhari, Da'awat 3/6307). If the Prophet asked forgiveness this much even though he was sinless, then we, as sinful servants, must ask forgiveness far more.
Bilal ibn Yasar (may Allah be pleased with him): "Whoever says 'Astaghfirullaha'l-azima'lladhi la ilaha illa huwa'l-Hayya'l-Qayyuma wa atubu ilayh' will have his sins forgiven even if he has fled from the battlefield" (Sunan Abi Dawud, Witr 26/1517; Jami' at-Tirmidhi, Da'awat 38/3397).
I ask forgiveness of Allah Most High. There is no god but Allah, the Ever-Living, the Self-Subsisting, and I turn to Him in repentance. O Allah! Forgive my great sins, my small sins, my open sins and my hidden sins. Accept my istighfar (seeking forgiveness) and make my repentance sincere. Keep my tongue occupied with seeking Your forgiveness at all times, O my Lord. Amin.
