سُبْحَانَ اللّٰهِ (33 times)
اَلْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِ (33 times)
اَللّٰهُ أَكْبَرُ (33 times)
Subḥāna Allāh (33 times), al-ḥamdu lillāh (33 times), Allāhu akbar (33 times).
Lā ilāha illā Allāhu waḥdahu lā sharīka lah, lahu al-mulku wa-lahu al-ḥamdu wa-huwa ʿalā kulli shayʾin qadīr. (once)
I declare Allah free of all imperfection (33), all praise belongs to Allah (33), Allah is the Greatest (33). There is no god but Allah, alone, without partner. The dominion is His and all praise is His. He has power over all things.
Source: Sahih Muslim 597 (a sahih (authentic) hadith).
Narrated by Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him). Our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever says 'Subhanallah' 33 times, 'Alhamdulillah' 33 times and 'Allahu akbar' 33 times after every salah, and says 'La ilaha illallahu wahdahu…' to complete the hundredth, will be forgiven even if his sins are as abundant as the foam of the sea." (Sahih Muslim, Masajid 597; Sahih al-Bukhari, Adhan 155)
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) relates: A group of poor Emigrants came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "O Messenger of Allah! The wealthy have taken the high ranks and the lasting blessings. They pray as we pray and fast as we fast, but they give charity in addition." Our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Shall I teach you something which, if you do it, will let you catch up with those who have gone before you, will put you ahead of those who come after you, and by which no one will be able to surpass you? After every salah you say the tasbih, the tahmid and the takbir 33 times each." (Sahih al-Bukhari, Adhan 155; Sahih Muslim, Masajid 595)
This tasbihat is the most meritorious dhikr performed after the salah. In another hadith our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever performs this tasbihat after every salah will be forgiven even if his sins are as abundant as the foam of the sea" (Sahih Muslim, Masajid 597). It is also a sunnah, after completing 99 of the tasbihat, to complete it to one hundred with "La ilaha illallahu wahdahu…"
O Allah, I have completed my salah and I glorify You. You are far above every imperfection. I praise You; all blessings are from You. You are the Greatest; there is no being greater than You. There is no god but You; You have no partner. The dominion is Yours and all praise is Yours. Accept my salah and make my words of glorification acceptable in Your presence. Forgive my sins, O my Lord. Amin.
