Lā ilāha illā llāhu waḥdahū lā sharīka lah. Lahu l-mulku wa lahu l-ḥamdu bi-yadihi l-khayr wa huwa ʿalā kulli shayʾin qadīr.
There is no god but Allah. He is One, He has no partner. To Him belongs the dominion and to Him belongs all praise. All good is in His hand. He has power over all things.
Source: Jami' at-Tirmidhi 3585 (sahih [authentic] hadith).
Our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite this dhikr of tawhid abundantly on the Day of Arafah. (Jami' at-Tirmidhi, Da'awat 57/3585; Sahih Muslim, Hajj 147/1289)
Our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited this dhikr of tawhid abundantly on the Day of Arafah. Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'The most meritorious dua is the dua made on the Day of Arafah. The most meritorious dhikr recited by me and by the prophets before me is this: La ilaha illa llahu wahdahu la sharika lah...'" (Jami' at-Tirmidhi, Da'awat 57/3585; Muwatta Malik, Qur'an 32).
The Day of Arafah is the day before Eid al-Adha (9 Dhu al-Hijjah) and is the most meritorious day of the year. On this day Allah's mercy pours down upon His servants. The pilgrims standing in wuquf at Arafat and Muslims everywhere in the world make abundant dua and dhikr on this day.
The phrase "Bi-yadihi l-khayr" (All good is in His hand) emphasises that all good is in Allah's hand: if He wills He gives, and if He does not will He does not give.
It is sunnah to recite this dhikr abundantly on the Day of Arafah. The pilgrims should repeat this dhikr at Arafat and other Muslims wherever they are.
There is no god but Allah; He is One, He has no partner. To Him belongs the dominion, to Him belongs all praise, and all good is in His hand. He has power over all things. By the blessing of the Day of Arafah, forgive me, O Lord. Amin.
