أَعُوذُ بِاللّٰهِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
رَبِّ زِدْنِي عِلْمًا
Aʿūdhu bi'llāhi mina'sh-shayṭāni'r-rajīm. Bismi'llāhi'r-Raḥmāni'r-Raḥīm.
Rabbi zidnī ʿilmā.
I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Satan. In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
My Lord! Increase me in knowledge. (Ta-Ha 114)

"When you read the Qur'an, seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Satan" (an-Nahl 98). "Say: My Lord! Increase me in knowledge" (Ta-Ha 114).
Allah Almighty said: "When you read the Qur'an, seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Satan" (an-Nahl 98). In accordance with this command, one says "Aʿūdhu bi'llāhi mina'sh-shayṭāni'r-rajīm" before beginning to read the Qur'an. One then begins with "Bismi'llāhi'r-Raḥmāni'r-Raḥīm."
Reading the Qur'an is among the most meritorious acts of worship. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever reads one letter of the Qur'an receives one good deed, and every good deed is recorded tenfold. I do not say that Alif-Lam-Mim is one letter; alif is a letter, lam is a letter, and mim is a letter" (Jami' at-Tirmidhi, Fadaʾil al-Qurʾan 16).
"On the Day of Resurrection, the parents of the one who reads the Qur'an and acts upon it will be crowned with a crown brighter than the sun" (Sunan Abi Dawud, Salat 349).
I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Satan. In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. My Lord! Increase me in knowledge, and grant me to understand the Qur'an and to live by it. May what I read sink into my heart and be reflected in my life as deeds. May the Qur'an be for me the light of my heart and the guide of my path, O Lord. Amin.
