رَبِّ اشْرَحْ لِي صَدْرِي وَيَسِّرْ لِي أَمْرِي
Surah Ta-Ha, ayat 25-28:
رَبِّ اشْرَحْ لِي صَدْرِي وَيَسِّرْ لِي أَمْرِي وَاحْلُلْ عُقْدَةً مِنْ لِسَانِي يَفْقَهُوا قَوْلِي
Dua for memory:
رَبِّ زِدْنِي عِلْمًا
Rabbi'shraḥ lī ṣadrī wa yassir lī amrī. Wa'ḥlul ʿuqdatan min lisānī yafqahū qawlī.
Rabbi zidnī ʿilmā.
My Lord! Open my breast and expand it. Make my task easy for me. Loosen the knot in my tongue so that they may understand my words. (Ta-Ha 25-28)
My Lord! Increase me in knowledge. (Ta-Ha 114)

It is the dua of Musa (peace be upon him) (Ta-Ha 25-28). It is the Qur'anic dua for memory and knowledge (Ta-Ha 114).
This dua is recited before an exam, an interview, a speech, or study. Before going to Pharaoh, Musa (peace be upon him) asked Allah to open his breast, to make his task easy and to loosen the knot in his tongue (Ta-Ha 25-28).
"Rabbi'shraḥ lī ṣadrī" (Open my breast and expand it): this asks for understanding, comprehension and clarity of mind.
"Wa yassir lī amrī" (Make my task easy): this asks Him to make the difficult easy.
"Wa'ḥlul ʿuqdatan min lisānī" (Loosen the knot in my tongue): this increases one's power of expression, courage in speaking and ability to persuade.
"Rabbi zidnī ʿilmā" (Ta-Ha 114) is the shortest and most effective Qur'anic dua for knowledge and memory. It is recited before every lesson, before an exam, and at the moment of learning.
My Lord! Open my breast, make my task easy, and loosen the knot in my tongue so that my words are understood. Clear my mind, strengthen my memory, and grant that I easily recall what I have read and learned. Make me calm, focused and successful in the exam. Do not let any of the work I have laboured over go to waste, and increase me in knowledge, O Lord. Amin.
