رَبِّ هَبْ لِي مِنْ لَدُنْكَ ذُرِّيَّةً طَيِّبَةً إِنَّكَ سَمِيعُ الدُّعَاءِ
رَبَّنَا هَبْ لَنَا مِنْ أَزْوَاجِنَا وَذُرِّيَّاتِنَا قُرَّةَ أَعْيُنٍ وَاجْعَلْنَا لِلْمُتَّقِينَ إِمَامًا
Rabbi hab lī min ladunka dhurriyyatan ṭayyibatan innaka samīʿu'd-duʿāʾ.
Rabbanā hab lanā min azwājinā wa dhurriyyātinā qurrata aʿyunin wa'jʿalnā li'l-muttaqīna imāmā.
My Lord! Grant me from Yourself a goodly offspring. Truly You are the Hearer of dua. (Al Imran 38)
Our Lord! Grant us spouses and offspring who will be the comfort of our eyes, and make us a model for those mindful of Allah. (al-Furqan 74)

The dua of Zakariyya (peace be upon him) (Al Imran 38) and the dua of the servants of the Most Merciful (al-Furqan 74).
Two important duas for righteous offspring occur in the Noble Qur'an. In his old age Zakariyya (peace be upon him) asked Allah for a righteous child, saying, "My Lord! Grant me from Yourself a goodly offspring"; his dua was answered and he was given the glad tidings of Yahya (peace be upon him) (Al Imran 38-39).
The ʿibad ar-Rahman (the servants of the Most Merciful), for their part, pray: "Our Lord! Grant us spouses and offspring who will be the comfort of our eyes, and make us a model for those mindful of Allah" (al-Furqan 74). The expression "qurrata aʿyunin" (comfort of the eyes) means that the child is righteous and gives joy to its parents.
Praying for righteous children should begin before the child is born. These duas are recited when choosing a spouse, in marriage and throughout pregnancy.
My Lord! Grant me a pure and righteous offspring. Give me children who will be the light of my eyes and the joy of my heart. Make them among Your servants who worship You as You deserve, who live by the religion and who respect their parents. Bless our offspring, and make us and our children a model for those mindful of Allah. Hear my dua and accept it, O Lord. Amin.
