رَبِّ ارْحَمْهُمَا كَمَا رَبَّيَانِي صَغِيرًا
Rabbi irḥamhumā kamā rabbayānī ṣaghīrā.
My Lord! Have mercy on them (my mother and father), just as they raised me (fed and brought me up) when I was small.

It is ayah 24 of Surah al-Isra. Before this it is said: "And lower to them the wing of humility out of mercy" (al-Isra 24).
This ayah is one of the most comprehensive expressions in the Qur'an of the command to treat one's parents well. In the ayat that precede it, it is said: "Your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him, and that you be good to your parents. If one or both of them reach old age with you, do not say to them even 'ugh.' Do not rebuke them. Speak to them both a gracious word" (al-Isra 23).
The phrase "kamā rabbayānī ṣaghīrā" (just as they raised me when I was small) recalls the sacrifice of one's parents during infancy and childhood, when a person is helpless and dependent. The mother passed sleepless nights; the father ran after provision. In return for these sacrifices, we are commanded to ask for mercy for them.
Our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The pleasure of Allah lies in the pleasure of the parents, and the anger of Allah lies in the anger of the parents" (Jami' at-Tirmidhi, Birr 3). In another hadith it is said: "Paradise lies beneath the feet of mothers" (Sunan an-Nasa'i, Jihad 6). Praying for one's parents is a continuous duty that is to be carried out both while they are alive and after they have passed away.
My Lord! Have mercy on my mother and my father. They raised me when I was small, they brought me up, they made sacrifices. If they are alive, give them health, peace and well-being. If they have passed away, forgive their sins and fill their graves with light. Make me a good child to them. Grant me to fulfil the rights of my parents, O my Lord. Amin.
