رَبَّنَا آتِنَا مِنْ لَدُنْكَ رَحْمَةً وَهَيِّئْ لَنَا مِنْ أَمْرِنَا رَشَدًا
Rabbanā ātinā min ladunka raḥmatan wa hayyiʾ lanā min amrinā rashadā.
Our Lord! Grant us mercy from Your presence, and prepare for us a way of deliverance from this situation of ours.

It is the dua the Companions of the Cave (Ashab al-Kahf) made when they took refuge in the cave in order to protect their faith. (al-Kahf 10)
The Companions of the Cave were young men whose concern was to protect their faith. Fearing that they could not preserve their faith among their denying and sinful people, they withdrew from them. They took refuge in a cave and made this dua (al-Kahf 10).
Allah Most High accepted their sincere dua. He caused them to sleep in the cave for 309 years (300 solar years + 9 months) and then awakened them so that they would be a lesson for people (al-Kahf 25). This is one of the clearest proofs of Allah's mercy towards His servants and of His preserving those who protect their faith.
The dua contains two requests: mercy from Allah's presence, and a way of deliverance from the situation (rashad). Rashad means finding the right way, being able to attain it, and reaching a remedy. Taking refuge in the cave was a practical remedy; the dua was a spiritual one. When the two come together, Allah accepts.
This dua may be recited in every kind of hardship and distress and in any situation in which a way out is being sought. In circumstances such as unemployment, illness, financial difficulty, family problems, or anxiety about protecting one's faith, the dua of the Companions of the Cave is the finest refuge.
Our Lord! Grant us mercy from Your presence. Show us a way of deliverance from our situation. As You protected the Companions of the Cave in the cave, protect us too from every evil. Open up our impasses, light our way, and grant us relief, O Lord. Amin.
