Bu duayı Türkçe oku

Transliteration

Allāhumma innī aʿūdhu bika mina l-ʿajzi wa-l-kasali wa-l-jubni wa-l-harami wa-l-bukhl. Wa aʿūdhu bika min ʿadhābi l-qabr. Wa aʿūdhu bika min fitnati l-maḥyā wa-l-mamāt.

Meaning

O Allah! I seek refuge in You from incapacity, from laziness, from cowardice, from growing old and helpless, and from miserliness. I seek refuge in You from the punishment of the grave. I seek refuge in You from the trial of life and of death.

Source: Sahih al-Bukhari 6367 (sahih (authentic) hadith).

Narrated by Anas (may Allah be pleased with him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite this dua. (Sahih al-Bukhari, Daawat 36/6367; Sahih Muslim, Dhikr 50/2706; Sunan Abi Dawud, Witr 32/1552)

Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) relates: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to pray: 'Allāhumma innī aʿūdhu bika mina l-ʿajzi wa-l-kasal...'" (Sahih al-Bukhari, Daawat 36/6367; Sahih Muslim, Dhikr 50/2706). This dua consists of seeking refuge with Allah from eight evils.

Ajz (incapacity): Being unable to do good and beneficial works, being unable to fulfil one's duties. Kasal (laziness): Not worshipping despite having the strength for it, submitting instead to one's lower self. Jubn (cowardice): Being unable to stand against the lower self and Satan, being unable to strive or to speak the truth. Haram (decrepit old age): A person losing his mind and becoming dependent on the hands of others (arzal al-umur, the most abject stage of life). Bukhl (miserliness): Holding back from spending, from good works, and from zakat.

Then refuge is sought from the punishment of the grave and from the trial of life and death. The trial of life is the love of this world, and the trials of wealth, of position, and of

desire. The trial of death is being put to the test while in the throes of death.

The Prophet mentioned these five evils often and warned his ummah against them. Reciting this dua morning and evening is the most effective way of being protected from these evils.
