اَللّٰهُمَّ رَبَّ هٰذِهِ الدَّعْوَةِ التَّامَّةِ وَالصَّلَاةِ الْقَائِمَةِ آتِ مُحَمَّدًا الْوَسِيلَةَ وَالْفَضِيلَةَ وَالدَّرَجَةَ الرَّفِيعَةَ وَابْعَثْهُ مَقَامًا مَحْمُودًا الَّذِي وَعَدْتَهُ إِنَّكَ لَا تُخْلِفُ الْمِيعَادَ
Allāhumma rabba hādhihi d-daʿwati t-tāmmah wa-ṣ-ṣalāti l-qāʾimah, āti Muḥammadani l-wasīlata wa-l-faḍīlata wa-d-darajata r-rafīʿah. Wa-bʿathhu maqāman maḥmūdani lladhī waʿadtah. Innaka lā tukhlifu l-mīʿād.
O Lord of this perfect call and of the salah (prayer) about to be established! Grant Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) al-Wasilah, excellence and the exalted rank. Raise him to the Praiseworthy Station that You have promised him. Indeed, You do not break Your promise.

Narrated by Jabir ibn Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever recites this dua after hearing the adhan will certainly receive my intercession on the Day of Judgement." (Sahih al-Bukhari, Adhan 8; Sunan Abi Dawud, Salah 37/529)
Jabir ibn Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) relates: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'Whoever recites this dua after hearing the adhan will certainly receive my intercession on the Day of Judgement'" (Sahih al-Bukhari, Adhan 8). This is the narration that sets out the merit of the dua after the adhan in the strongest terms. This dua, which is a means to the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) intercession on the Day of Judgement, should be recited after repeating the adhan along with the muezzin.
Al-Wasilah is the highest station in Paradise, and it will be given to one person only. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Al-Wasilah is a station in Paradise that will fall to only one of Allah's servants. I hope that I will be that servant. Whoever asks for al-Wasilah for me, my intercession becomes lawful for him" (Sahih Muslim, Salah 11).
The adhan is a call to Allah and an invitation to salah. The believer who answers this call makes this dua for the Prophet after listening to the adhan, thereby showing his attachment to the Messenger of Allah and holding the hope of attaining his intercession on the Day of Judgement. A dua made between the adhan and the iqamah is also not rejected (Sunan Abi Dawud, Salah 35).
O Allah, You are the Lord of this perfect call and of the salah about to be performed. Grant our Prophet Muhammad al-Wasilah, excellence and the exalted station. Raise him to the Praiseworthy Station that You have promised him. You do not break Your promise. Grant me too the intercession of our Prophet on the Day of Judgement, O Lord. Amin.
