In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the worlds, and blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad, upon his household and upon his Companions.
O Allah! Make this contract good and blessed. Grant them harmony, love and constancy between them. Do not place hatred, separation and flight between them.
O Allah, make them harmonious and affectionate with one another. Grant to these two as well a share of the harmony and love You granted between Adam (peace be upon him) and Hawwa, between Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and Khadijah, and between Ali and Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with them).

The duas connected with the marriage ceremony are the well-known duas that Islamic scholars recite when performing the nikah. Our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Marriage is my sunnah. Whoever does not act upon my sunnah is not of me." (Sahih al-Bukhari, Nikah 1; Sahih Muslim, Nikah 140; Sunan Ibn Majah, Nikah 1)
Our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Marriage is my sunnah. Whoever does not act upon my sunnah is not of me" (Sahih al-Bukhari, Nikah 1). Marriage is one of the most blessed and most sacred contracts in Islam. The nikah dua is the offering of this contract to Allah's protection and blessing.
In the nikah dua the essential thing is to ask for love, affection and harmony between the couple who are to marry. The affection of all the blessed couples - from Adam and Hawwa to our Prophet and Khadijah, and to Ali and Fatimah - is held up as an example. In addition, the verses "Rabbanā hab lanā min azwājinā wa-dhurriyyātinā qurrata aʿyunin wa-jʿalnā li-l-muttaqīna imāmā" (al-Furqan 74) and "Rabbanā ātinā fi-d-dunyā ḥasanatan wa-fi-l-ākhirati ḥasanatan wa-qinā ʿadhāba an-nār" (al-Baqarah 201) are also recited in the nikah dua.
The nikah dua is not merely a formality; it is the entrusting of the newly established home to Allah's protection. A marriage that begins with dua continues in blessing and affection.
O Allah, make this marriage good and blessed. Place love, affection and peace between this couple. Protect them from hatred, separation and flight. Give to this home too the blessing You granted to the homes of Your prophets and Your beloved servants. Grant them righteous children, ample provision, long lives and hearts that serve You, O Lord. Amin.
