سُبْحَانَكَ اللّٰهُمَّ وَبِحَمْدِكَ أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ أَسْتَغْفِرُكَ وَأَتُوبُ إِلَيْكَ
Subḥānaka Allāhumma wa-bi-ḥamdik. Ashhadu an lā ilāha illā ant. Astaghfiruka wa-atūbu ilayk.
O Allah! I declare You free of every deficient attribute and glorify You with Your praise. I bear witness with certainty that there is no deity but You. I ask You for forgiveness and I repent to You.

Narrated by Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him). Our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever sits in a gathering in which there is much idle talk and then, before leaving it, recites this dua, the faults and sins he committed in that gathering are forgiven." (Jami' at-Tirmidhi, Da'awat 38/3433; Sunan Abi Dawud, Adab 4857)
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) relates: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'Whoever sits in a gathering in which there is much malayani (useless and unnecessary) talk and then, before leaving it, says Subḥānaka Allāhumma wa-bi-ḥamdik…, the faults and sins he committed in that gathering are forgiven'" (Jami' at-Tirmidhi, Da'awat 38). This dua is known as kaffarat al-majlis (the expiation of the gathering).
It is also known that the noble Companions would recite Surah al-Asr before leaving the gatherings they were in. This practice increases the blessing of the time spent in the gathering and covers over the faults that may be committed through idle words. In the Noble Qur'an the dua "My Lord! Grant me a truthful entrance where I am to enter, and a truthful exit from where I am to come out" (al-Isra 80) has been taught.
Our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A gathering in which Muslims come together is blessed only if it is a gathering in which they remember Allah. A gathering without remembrance becomes a cause of regret for the one who holds it" (Musnad Ahmad II, 432). Reciting this dua when leaving a gathering becomes the expiation for every kind of idle and empty talk that took place in it.
O Allah, I glorify You and declare You free of every deficient attribute. I bear witness that there is no deity but You. Forgive the faults I committed in this gathering and pardon my unnecessary words. I repent to You and ask for Your forgiveness. Bring every gathering of mine to a good conclusion, O Lord. Amin.
