لَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا اللّٰهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ يُحْيِي وَيُمِيتُ وَهُوَ حَيٌّ لَا يَمُوتُ بِيَدِهِ الْخَيْرُ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ
Lā ilāha illā llāhu waḥdahū lā sharīka lah, lahu l-mulku wa-lahu l-ḥamdu, yuḥyī wa-yumītu wa-huwa ḥayyun lā yamūtu, bi-yadihi l-khayru wa-huwa ʿalā kulli shayʾin qadīr.
There is no deity but Allah alone; He has no partner. To Him belongs the dominion and to Him belongs all praise. He gives life and causes death. He is ever-living and does not die. In His hand is all good, and He has power over all things.

Narrated by Umar (may Allah be pleased with him). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever recites this dua on entering the marketplace, Allah writes for him a million good deeds, erases a million of his sins, and raises him a million degrees." (Jami' at-Tirmidhi, Da'awat 36/3428; Sunan Ibn Majah, Tijarat 2; al-Mustadrak (al-Hakim) I/538)
Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) relates: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'Whoever, on entering the marketplace, says Lā ilāha illā llāhu waḥdahū..., Allah writes for him a million good deeds, erases a million of his sins, and raises him a million degrees'" (Jami' at-Tirmidhi, Da'awat 36). This hadith shows how meritorious it is to remember Allah even in places such as markets and bazaars, where worldly preoccupations run high.
Markets and bazaars are the places where heedlessness prevails most. In the bustle of buying and selling, people forget to remember Allah. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "The places on earth most disliked by Allah are the markets" (Sahih Muslim, Salah 288). To remember Allah in such a setting is to form an island of dhikr in a sea of heedlessness. For this reason its reward is also great.
This dua is a declaration of the belief in Allah's oneness, made aloud or from the heart in the setting of the marketplace. Remembering while trading that provision comes from Allah, and that good and harm are in His hand, keeps the believer away from unlawful earnings and from deception.
O Allah, I am entering the marketplace, and I remember You in a setting of heedlessness. There is no deity but You; the dominion is Yours. Grant me my provision from what is lawful and protect me from what is unlawful. Guard me from deceiving and from being deceived. Grant blessing in my buying and selling and honesty in my trade. Make it easy for me not to forget You amid worldly occupations, O Lord. Amin.
