Kaynak

Source: Sahih Muslim 2018 (sahih hadith).

Narrated by Jabir ibn Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When a person remembers Allah as he enters his house, Satan says to his companions, 'There is no lodging and no food here.'" (Sahih Muslim, Ashribah 103; Sunan Abi Dawud, At'imah 15). For the dua when stopping at a place: (Sahih Muslim, Dhikr 54)

Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) relates: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'When a person remembers Allah as he enters his house and when he eats, Satan says to his companions: There is neither lodging nor food. If he does not remember Allah on entering the house, Satan says: You have found lodging. And if he does not say Bismillah when he eats, he says: You have found both lodging and food'" (Sahih Muslim, Ashribah 103). This hadith clearly shows that saying Bismillah on entering the house keeps Satan away from the home.

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) also recommended saying "Aʿūdhu bi-kalimāti llāhi t-tāmmāti min sharri mā khalaq" when arriving at a dwelling or a place of lodging. Whoever says "I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created" will not be harmed by anything until he leaves that place (Sahih Muslim, Dhikr 54).

In the Noble Qur'an it is said, "When you enter houses, greet one another with peace — a greeting from Allah, blessed and good" (an-Nur 61). Entering the house with the Basmalah, with the greeting of peace and with these duas strengthens the spiritual atmosphere of the home. Entering with the greeting of peace means that even if no one is at home, the greeting is given to the angels.

Dua in English

O Allah, I enter my house in Your name. Fill my home with blessing, with peace and with the light of Islam. Keep Satan and every kind of evil far from my home. I seek refuge with You from the evil of what You have created. Show mercy to my family, and place love and affection between us. Make our home a peaceful dwelling in which You are obeyed and remembered, O Lord. Amin.
